Our History

Established in 2001 and Incorporated in Georgia in 2008, Premier Surplus, Inc. is a woman owned and operated business specializing in electronic asset recycling solutions. Our offering includes “end-of-life” equipment management, certified data destruction, remarketing, recycling, and product destruction.

In 2001, Premier Surplus began operating out of a single car garage buying and selling printers, microfilm, and typewriters. By 2003, the business had expanded to a two-car garage and Stephanie Kennedy had established an eBay presence in order to increase margin by selling directly to consumers. As the business grew, it became evident that many customers needed a more comprehensive service to deal with their end-of-life electronics, so in 2007 Premier Surplus moved into a 2,500 square foot facility where recycling of low-value equipment could take place in addition to remarketing. Early in 2011, the operation moved into a 22,000 square foot facility and became certified at an ISO and R2 (responsible recycling) standard to meet the needs and requirements of our corporate and government clientele. By January of 2012, after a large investment of time and resources, the business was fully certified. In 2014, Premier Surplus expanded operations again into a 50,000 square foot facility and added an industrial shred operation to more efficiently process e-waste, recover materials, and adhere to our Zero Landfill policy. We continued to grow the business and it wasn’t long before we outgrew this facility as well.

Currently, with more than 140 employees, Premier Surplus operates out of a 137,000 square foot facility just north of Atlanta, serving hundreds of corporate, healthcare, K-12, higher ed, government and OEM accounts. Both Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 corporate customers rely on Premier Surplus’ services throughout the United States. As part of our R2v3, NAID AAA, and RIOS certifications, Premier Surplus adheres to both HIPAA and DOE guidelines to safeguard and destroy customer data.
